What is “good” for my state?
Though the election cycle is over with there is always another one around the corner. Regardless, we hear the same line all the time from our representatives at the local, state and federal level, “This bill is good for (insert geographic location that they represent).” The sad thing is, more laws are hardly ever good for any person let alone a geographic location. These statements about a bill being good for this or good for that are often the opposite of of being just that. At the local level most of the bills that are good for the area are tax increases and more regulation. At the state level it is the same thing and at the federal level it is the same thing with with the addition of taking more money from the federal government to ‘help’ the state. This endless cycle of whats good for the state and often isn’t is getting old, fast. What would be good for the state though? Glad you asked, a tax reduction, lowering of regulation and the taking of less funds from the federal government at all levels of government, be it local, state and federal. We have seen time and time again that these bills purposed are often leading us closer and closer to tyranny and further from liberty.
When we elect people that are going to do whats good for us by raising taxes, borrowing more money, increase regulation or expanding our reliance on the federal government what we have actually elected is a person doing us harm. This is the problem we have in not just one party but all parties. The people we elect, with the exception of a few, love to sell us their lies and we buy em up as a whole. If the people we elected wanted to help us the bills they would put up for vote and vote on would be ones that lower regulation and lower taxes. Those two elements are what we should be using to judge if a bill is ‘good’ or not.
Like I had said this may seem a bit out of time as it feels like the elections have just ended but 2018 is closer than we think. Those that are going to run for office have generally already decided if they are going to do so or not and by the summer time they will begin fund raising and trying to solicit donors. We need to be on the look out now for those that stand for liberty, we need to seek them out and support them, not on just election day but in the primaries. This is where we need to be looking, in the primaries. It is in the primaries that most campaigns end. Once we get our liberty minded folks past this stage we can then vote for them again in the general election. I’m not calling on people to run saying, “You need to do that! Go run!!” If you feel so compelled to do so I encourage it. What I am calling on you to do though is find out who supports liberty in the primaries and get involved, help out, help this country move closer to liberty, not further from it.
