When the Government Tells us we Don’t Need Guns, we Need Guns
Hello there again readers and welcome back to Coffee Break Liberty, a blog where we tackle books, news and many other things under the sun where liberty is a guiding principle. If this is your first time here we would like to extend a special warm welcome to you and hope you enjoy yourself while here.
In much of a follow up or at least trying to same in the same ball park as the most recent post this writing will also be about the current and yet 200 year old gun debate in this country. This goes further than just owning a firearm, it is rooted in the human right to defend yourself and property from others including, if not especially from the government. The right to protect yourself finds it’s origins in property rights, you own yourself and are allowed to protect yourself. This is a human right, it’s that simple. Protecting one’s self is something a person is allowed to do. Yet we now have thousands marching against this basic human right. We see thousands across the nation marching against our rights as humans to protect ourselves against others because someone used a weapon against innocent people.
These thousands are marching for the police and the military to be the only one’s armed…. What could go wrong? (sarcasm intended) The idea too that if the age to purchase a firearm were raised this will somehow end school shootings. Is this to suggest that the Parkland shooter would have no longer been a sick individual that wanted to murder someone when he all of a sudden turned 21 or whatever arbitrary age we want to impose? The argument too that a mental screen should be put into place before purchasing a firearm is also foolish. Not only does it violate the privacy between the patient and the doctor but it also now let’s the government decide who is mentally fit to own a firearm. It is odd to us that the left, a group that claims to not trust the military and police, want to give them more power and now determine who can protect themselves. What twilight zone are we in these days?!
