Facts Mean Nothing When You’re a Teenager

Hello there again readers and welcome back to Coffee Break Liberty, a blog where we tackle books, news and many other things under the sun where liberty is a guiding principle. If this is your first time here we would like to extend a special warm welcome to you and hope you enjoy yourself while here.

It seems today that if you are a teenager all you have to do is cry, yell and pout to be heard by a United Nations council even if you are lying. Last week we all saw the internet and corporate media go wild over Greta yelling at adults that all agree with her. Not one of them… not one, even question what she was saying. Did it matter that her claims weren’t based in any fact? No, why would it? It should make a difference that her claim more people are dying in natural disasters isn’t true, or that the increases in temperature is gonna kill everyone by 2100. Those she was yelling it are the same people that have been telling her generation what to think and they love to hear it yelled back in their faces.

It’s always troubling to see, though it’s not the first time, that facts are just ignored because of the way someone feels. Sure the facts may be a bit, heck scary at times or what have you, but feelings don’t and can’t dispute them. Unhinged emotional responses to issues that require actual changes in technology, not taxes or regulation, are not gonna get us through these issues. It will take great minds and hard work. Not a teen skipping school and repeating the lies she has been force feed in government schooling.

As libertarians and liberty minded folks we try to hold ourselves to certain standards. One we try to hold ourselves to here at CBL is the truth. Didn’t say, “my truth” or “his/her truth” but rather the truth. We can’t allow facts to become meaningless just because someone is upset.

Thank you for reading and please don’t forget to like and share!

Keep that coffee warm for us.
