We Could’ve Sacrificed Bill Weld

Hello there again readers and welcome back to Coffee Break Liberty, a blog where we tackle books, news and many other things under the sun where liberty is a guiding principle. If this is your first time here we would like to extend a special warm welcome to you and hope you enjoy yourself while here.

NEWS FLASH!! Former Libertarian Party Vice Presidential Candidate, Bill Weld, has left the Libertarian Party!! WOOHOOO!! We are pretty pleased here even though it was bad timing for us! We were working on a post about how we shouldn’t embrace Gov. Weld (he is also a former governor) and his ilk… and then he leaves before the blog post is made. Gosh would we have looked great if we posted that a day or two prior! Oh well, we will though keep in line with the original post’s intent, that we shouldn’t fall in behind those like Bill Weld. Interesting side note though on Weld, he is apparently heading back to the GOP and many are saying he is doing this to challenge President Trump in 2020.

To the original intent though of this post. We need to stick to our principles coming up here in 2019 and 2020, especially when we decide who we want to represent our party at the national level with the presidential elections coming up. If we are going to be the party of principle than let’s select a candidate that is principled. In recent election cycles, 2016 especially it seemed, we as a party went with candidates that weren’t well-versed in the libertarian ideology and were clearly not even principled. With Weld now gone the pathway is clear for such a man, Larry Sharpe. We really look forward to seeing him run for the Libertarian Party ticket if not in 2020 than 2024. The latter being more preferable to be honest as the reaction vote against President Trump will be far to great to get any traction outside of the party. Hardly anyone not in the LP will be looking at our candidate as a possible choice against Trump. The masses next time, as every time, but now more than ever, will vote for the respective party… Perhaps Bill Weld could serve this role if he wanted to be a sacrificial lamb for the party in 2020…perhaps…

Thank you for reading and please don’t forget to like and share! Also, don’t forget to get a Coffee Break Liberty mug from our store!
